Effects of different types of gelling agents on <i>in vitro</i> organogenesis and some physicochemical properties of date palm buds, Showathy cv.

Abstract Some obstacles are associated with in vitro propagation of date palm, such as explant tissue browning, slow callus growth and development, low organogenesis multiplication efficiency, frequent vitrification. This investigation studied the effect five types gelling agents (Danish Agar, Cero Agar Type 8952, Chile Gerlite Food Grade, Agar-Agar.) on regeneration bud Phoenix dactylifera L. cv. Showathy. The results showed that highest percentages producing buds average formation (77.78%, 11.5 buds, 72.23%, 10.9 buds) were obtained response to 7 g l –1 Danish respectively. A decrease browning percentage was observed tissues cultured medium gelled Agar. Observations 8952 eliminated also shoot Compared other treatments, total amount phenolic compounds significantly reduced 0.79 0.82 mg GAE/g media macronutrient phosphor, calcium, sodium, micronutrient boron copper increased shoots regenerated 8952.
